Cataract Surgery (Phacoemsulsification/ IOL Implant)
Small incision sutureless technique is used for cataract surgery. Small probe is used to remove the cataract (cloudy lens) and plastic lens (intra-ocular lens) is inserted into a small sac (capsule). Cataract Surgery is performed at a day surgery hospital.
Fundus Fluorescein Angiogram
This is Retinal photography where a dye (fluorescein) is injected intravenously. This test is required to diagnose/ manage age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and retinal vein occlusions.
OCT Macular, Optic Disc Scans
Optical Coherence Tomography is a retinal/ optic disc scan which can measure the thickness of central retina (macular) to assist in diagnosis and management of many retinal diseases and glaucoma. OCT Scan is performed at Westside Eye Clinic.
Laser Eye Surgery and Treatments
Retinal laser (Argon laser) is required for treatment of retinal tears, proliferative diabetic retinopathy, macular swelling. Often eye injections are used in combination with/ or instead of lasers to treat macular swelling or severe diabetes in the eye.
YAG laser is used to treat capsular opacity (scar membrane) that forms on the back surface of the lens following your cataract surgery. YAG laser is also used to perform iridotomies to create an opening in the iris.
SLT laser is used to treat patients with ocular hypertension or glaucoma. This may replace or reduce your need for pressure lowering therapy.
Intavitreal Injections (Eye Injections)
For treatment of 'Wet' age-related macular degeneration, diabetic macular oedema ('swollen' macular), and retinal vein occlusions ('burst' blood vessel). Intravitreal anti-VEGF injections (eye injections) are performed at Westside Eye Clinic.
